First released in 1930, the perfume is most famous for its specific concentration of 10600 jasmine blooms and 28 dozen roses that go into each ounce. The wearer will enjoy the ylang-ylang, tuberose, aldehydes, rose green notes and pear as the fragrance opens. The heart offers jasmine paired with iris root while musk, civet and sandalwood close out the perfume with a solid base.
Named for its founding designer, the French fashion house Jean Patou first focused on chic sportswear, modern women’s fashions and furs before launching its fragrance division. Its first offerings include Amour Amour and Adieu Sagesse, both launched in 1925, and the label has produced nearly 50 fragrances during its multidecade history. Each bottle is even a uniquely designed work of art, or as the brand’s website puts it, “a jewel in its own right.”
