Ambre Sultan Cologne by Serge Lutens, Released in 2000, Ambre Sultan is a men’s fragrance with balsamic and amber main accords. The scent is best worn during fall and winter days and nights.

It has moderate sillage and long lasting longevity. The nose is perfumer Christopher Sheldrake, who has collaborated with Serge Lutens on most of the fragrance line. This scent features resin, amber, and bay leaf notes. There is also myrrh, sandalwood, coriander, and benzoin, along with vanilla, oregano, patchouli, angelica, and myrtle.

French perfumer Serge Lutens has worked in the beauty industry since the 1960s. He apprenticed as a hair stylist before working in makeup and photography. He became known for his work with Vogue and other fashion magazines and collaborations with famous fashion photographers. Christian Dior hired Lutens to create a makeup line in 1967 and Shiseido signed him to a collaboration agreement in 1980. By 2000, with Shiseido’s support, Lutens launched his eponymous fragrance line. While Shiseido now owns the trademark rights, Lutens remains involved as the brand’s creative director.
