Penhaligon’s was founded by William Penhaligon, a Cornish barber. He developed his first fragrance in 1872. The scent, Hammam Bouquet, was inspired by the rich aromas emanating from a Turkish bath near his shop. His products became popular with royalty and nobility, and he was eventually a perfumer to Queen Victoria. Today, the company has retail stores throughout the United Kingdom, as well as in Paris, Hong, Kong, Singapore, San Francisco, and New York.
