Jean Laporte, a French perfumer, was known in Paris as L’Artisan Parfumeur, ‘the craftsman of fragrance’. This was the name that he gave to his company, launched in 1976. The brand originally became known for its home fragrances that were created and sold as a ball made from terracotta and filled with scented amber crystals. The designers would pattern the ball according to their skill and taste and the scent lasts for two years. The first perfume was launched in 1978 and the company sells its fragrances and body products worldwide.
