Tom Ford began his own brand in 2005 after working in the fashion industry for years with Perry Ellis and Gucci. Yves Saint Laurent was acquired during his time with Gucci, and Ford was appointed director of one of the new acquisition marketing campaigns. His provocative and controversial campaign was met with great success, and noted Ford as a designer to watch. Ford initially attended Parsons School of Design in order to study architecture but found a passion for another area of design while working for a fashion house in a study abroad program.
