Laura Biagiotti started a fashion company with her future husband, Gianni Cigna, in 1965. They initially manufactured and distributed clothing for other designers. In 1972, Laura switched to designing herself, launching a successful womenswear line. Her designs are known for their fluidity and restraint. She was the first Italian designer ever to show a collection in China.
