The company is named for the perfume’s designer, Issey Miyake. Miyake introduced the scent in 2009. The Japanese perfumer, born in Hiroshima in 1938, began his career as a graphic artist. He transitioned to fashion and studied in France before opening his own studio in Tokyo in 1970. Before focusing on perfumes, Miyake developed natural fabrics and created elaborate costumes. Today his company makes fragrances for women and women, adhering to its founder’s artistic philosophy of change and movement.
