Lancome is a French cosmetics company that began as a fragrance house, releasing five perfumes for the 1935 World’s Fair in Belgium. It was founded by Armand Petitjean, who had formerly worked for Coty. The company’s name and floral logo were inspired by a picturesque ruined French castle surrounded by roses. After its fragrances proved successful, the company expanded to produce skin care and cosmetics. This scent was released in 1978.
