The perfume was designed in 1999 by Mathilde Laurent, now the in-house perfumer at Cartier, alongside the legendary Jean-Paul Guerlain. The two worked for Guerlain, an iconic name in the design of women and men’s fragrances. In business for more than 175 years, the company often touts its penchant for innovating the industry with rare, exotic, and even synthetic material combinations. It pioneered this approach in 1889 with the release of Jicky, a perfume that included coumarin, a synthetic material.
