Born and raised in Elmira, New York, Tommy Hilfiger is an American fashion designer. After his small chain, The People's Place, closed in the 1970s, he moved to New York City where he began designing full time. In 1984, he founded his brand and launched his first menswear line. The brand has since expanded and become popular with a large audience. Under the parent company of Estee Lauder, the brand released its first fragrance in 1995.
